FAQs About Custom Motorcycle Cables

  • Adjust the throttle cable

First start the engine, adjust the clearance and tightness of the throttle handle, and then perform an acceleration test.
If the throttle handle feels heavy or makes an abnormal sound (such as a rustling sound), it may be caused by the cable being wrapped around the handle. At this time, you can use a screwdriver to loosen the cable fixing screw to eliminate abnormal noise.
If the cable is damaged, a “clicking” sound may be made during operation. In this case, it is recommended to replace the cable with a new one.
Return the throttle handle to its normal state, hold the adjustment nut in your hand, pull the cable outward 2 to 3 mm, and then check whether the gap is appropriate. If the gap is too large, it needs to be readjusted.
Turn the adjustment nut clockwise to tighten the cable until you feel the gap returns to proper condition.
Finally, completely return the throttle handle to its normal state, adjust the locking nut to maintain a gap of 1 to 2 mm, and secure it with the locking nut.

  • Replace the throttle cable

Have the required tools and a new throttle cable ready.
Remove the throttle cable, which usually involves removing the retaining screws on the carburetor and throttle handle and pulling the throttle cable out of its slot.
Use a meter stick to measure the actual distance between the two ends of the throttle core cable. This is the actual effective length of the motorcycle throttle cable. Make sure your measurements are accurate to purchase the appropriate length of throttle cable.
Based on the measured length and motorcycle model, purchase a throttle cable that matches the model size. Make sure both ends of the new throttle cable fit perfectly with the motorcycle.
Install the new throttle cable, put it into the slot, and install the carburetor and throttle handle in the reverse order of removal.
After the replacement is completed, test whether the throttle control is flexible to ensure the replacement is successful.
During operation, please pay attention to safety and avoid injury.

The motorcycle throttle cable is an important part of the motorcycle throttle control system. It is responsible for connecting the throttle handle and the throttle valve. By pulling the handle, the opening and closing of the throttle valve is controlled, thereby adjusting the amount of mixture entering the engine and controlling the acceleration and acceleration of the motorcycle. slow down.

Motorcycle throttle cables are usually divided into two types: single throttle cable and double throttle cable. Dual throttle cable systems typically include a main throttle cable and an accelerator pump cable. The main throttle line is responsible for controlling the throttle valve and oil needle, which is responsible for accelerating refueling. The accelerator pump line works when the accelerator is turned sharply, causing the carburetor to spray a stream of oil into the throat, improving acceleration during sudden acceleration. This design allows the motorcycle to accelerate more quickly and smoothly, providing a better driving experience.

In order to ensure the normal operation of the motorcycle throttle control system, it is very important to regularly inspect and replace the throttle cable. If the throttle cable is found to be worn, broken or loose, it should be replaced in time. When replacing the throttle cable, you need to follow the correct steps to ensure that the new cable is installed correctly and matches the motorcycle exactly.

The diameter of a motorcycle throttle cable may vary depending on the model, make and purpose. Generally speaking, the diameter of a common motorcycle throttle cable is about 1.2 mm. However, certain types or brands of motorcycles may have different diameter throttle cables to meet their special design or performance requirements.

For example, the EFI throttle cable diameter of Land Rover scooters is also 1.2 mm. Therefore, when replacing or repairing a motorcycle’s throttle cable, it is recommended to refer to the motorcycle’s user manual or consult a professional repairman to ensure that the correct diameter of the throttle cable is selected to ensure the normal operation and driving safety of the motorcycle.

Measuring a clutch cable usually involves the following steps:

  • Determine the type of clutch cable

First, you need to confirm what type of clutch cable your motorcycle uses. Different motorcycles may have different cable designs and lengths, so make sure you know the cable specifications required for your model.

Prepare your measuring tools: Use a measuring tape or ruler to make sure it measures the exact length you need.

  • Measure the total length

Start at one end of the clutch cable and follow the path of the cable to the other end. This is usually the total length from the clutch arm to the operating lever or grip.

  • Measure Straight Sections

If there are sections of guy wire that bend or go around other components, you may also want to measure the straight lengths of those sections. This will help ensure that the new guy cable you purchase will fit correctly when installed.

  • Consider Extra Length

When purchasing new guy wire, it is often recommended to buy a slightly longer guy wire to allow enough room for adjustment during installation. This usually means adding a few centimeters to the measurement.

  • Record measurements

Record your measurements, both the overall length and the length of any specific sections. This will help you provide accurate specifications when purchasing new guy wires.
